Daikin North America LLC to Work with Nest on Product Integration

HOUSTON, Texas — Daikin North America LLC recently announced it is working with Nest Labs, Inc. to build integrations for its full range of Daikin brand residential products that will allow them to function with Nest products, including the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Protect: Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm, as well as the Dropcam Wi-Fi video monitoring camera and service.

“Nest has established a great level of consumer brand awareness and provides a great value to homeowners in terms of user experience. Further, Nest products offer potential energy savings with regard to residential heating and cooling systems without similar controls,” said Gary Clark, senior vice president of marketing at Daikin North America. “We look forward to collaborating with Nest to ensure that its products are designed to work with Daikin brand HVAC systems. Long term, we think that this relationship will be very beneficial for contractors representing the Daikin brand and homeowners seeking to improve their ability to achieve energy savings associated with the operation of their home’s heating and cooling systems. The combination of Daikin’s variable speed compressors in its air conditioners and heat pumps and Nest products will be powerful in helping to reduce energy usage without compromising homeowner indoor comfort.”

“Daikin is the global leader within the HVAC equipment industry and we are excited to add them to the growing list of companies that are working with Nest to create thoughtful new experiences for the home,” said Gene LaNois, general manager of Nest professional channel. “By enabling our products to work together, we can offer more comfort solutions for both contractors and customers.”

The Nest Thermostat is currently available across all Daikin’s company-operated distribution outlets and a significant number of Daikin’s independent distribution outlets for sale to HVAC contractors.
